UGLogo M Dreyer

Michael Dreyer is a professor at Northwestern University in Political Theory

About the program:
On September 24, the German people will elect a new Bundestag, which will in turn elect the Chancellor. For the first time since 1949, no less than seven parties have a chance to pass the 5 percent threshold for parliamentary representation. Will Angela Merkel be re-elected to the fourth term in office? If so, what are the options for a coalition government? What are the chances for a "traffic light"-coalition or a "Jamaica"-coalition? And what does it mean for German-American relations? The talk will analyze the results and the consequences of the elections in one of Western Europe's most important countries.
